If you’re a filmmaker anywhere in the world, or a musician/artist in Michigan, please reach out to us to learn how you can be a part of the fest. We’re also looking for Michigan-based volunteers—hit us up if you wanna hang out and help out!

Art Submissions 2019

VTFF ART

The Vidlings & Tapeheads Film Festival is now accepting submissions for our 2019 Art Exhibition!

We’re looking for 2D or wall-mounted art by Michigan artists to accompany our film festival during the last weekend of June 2019. VTFF encourages and celebrates subversiveness, innovative use of materials and budget, and quirky independent work that doesn’t fit comfortably within any one genre. In keeping with the spirit of unconventional narratives, we’re looking for representational work that tells a story, alludes to a story (illustration-style), or is otherwise character or genre inspired.

We do our best to curate a diverse and engaging program with a progressive group of unconventional filmmakers, musicians, and artists from Michigan and around the world. We strive to be inclusive and welcome people of all ages, genders, ethnicities, nationalities, creeds, orientations, and walks of life to submit!

To get a sense of the venue space and atmosphere, here are some photos from the VTFF2017 Exhibit & VTFF2018 Exhibit.

Man in Camo (feature) Directed by Ethan Minsker (facebook) Special Selection | Michigan Premiere 8:00 PM 82 minutes

Man in Camo takes a close look at the life of visual artist, writer and filmmaker Ethan Minsker and his drive to create and crusade the making of art. Through the lens of old photographs and films, Minsker leads viewers on a journey through the hurdles that once held him back, from dyslexia to the violence of 1980s Washington D.C. It was these hurdles that forged his love of film and art, and his work now spans across three decades. Man In Camo brings forth not just the love of art, but the reasons for making it in the first place.
